The snowmobile season |
The prime snowmobile season is March and April; this
time is excellent to come for snowmobile adventure. Snow
and sunshine, frost and blue sky. Sometimes snowmobiling
is possible into May.
On the other hand
for those who would like to experience the fabulous Polar
Night and the breathtaking Northern lights (Aurora
Borealis) - and aren’t afraid of a little cold -
we advise to snowmobile in January and February.

Snowmobile safaris on Kola Peninsula |
"Travel like the Saami nowadays in Russian Lapland!"
From our lumberjack house "Yolki-Palki" in Oktyabrsky
and from hotel/ cafe "Javre" close to Monchegorsk we
organise several adventurous snowmobile safaris through
the Kola wilderness and Wolzhe Tundra. The North winter is rich for showing
its Polar beauty; iced lakes and frozen rivers surrounded by snow covered
mountains and virgin ancient forests sleeping under a snow blanket.
Explore the Winter World of Kola Peninsula from
January up to May by snowmobile!

| Our snowmobile safaris:
One-day snowmobile safari Wolzhe Tundra: Round
tour of 60 km over frozen lakes, forests and hilly area. Takes
about 3 a 4 hours. Start at Cafe "Javre" at the north exit to
Monchegorsk on main-road M18 St-Petersburg - Murmansk.
One day snowmobile safari Bear hill: Round tour
of 30 km just in the beautiful surroundings of our Lumberjack
guesthouse in Oktyabrsky (close to Kirovsk).
Two-day snowmobile safari to Saami Sot house:
The track is the old forest road to Umba. Halfway (50 km) in
the fairytale village Inga we will visit a traditional
Saami house what's looking like a big igloo in winter (covered
under snow). We will have dinner and sleep on reindeer fur
around a fire, what's keeping us warm during the Polar night.
Possibility for ice fishing during day. Start is at the
Lumberjack guesthouse in Oktyabrsky
One-day snowmobile safari to Saami Sot house:
The track is same as the two-day snowmobile safari, but driven
in one day (100 km). Our lunch break is in the Saami house
with open fire.
These snowmobile safaris fits perfect for families and
small groups of friends (minimum 5 persons). Everybody will handle their own
snowmobile and will be provided with helmet, warm suite and
