Peninsula Russisch Lapland you can find the Monche bergen. The first berg ridge separates
the civilization van Monchegorsk met the beautiful Monche bergen area. The
contrast between the west slope met the charms van living nature en the east
slope, the zone van human’s activity, van these Monche bergen ridge is
striking.
The huge valley or low-land area van het Vite rivier in the Monche bergen
consists van virgin pine forests en spruce forests which age is 400-500 years
old. More naar de Noordwest direction the valley become a ravine. The nature
there is like Japan banzai gardens where berg en forest landscape are shown
in miniature. The beautiful waterfall Ebr-chorr (the waterfall van Rain Ridge)
Ebr-chorr is running between high vertical walls en is falling into a stone cup
on the palms van Lapland. in de ravine Karneskorch (the Raven’s Ravine) where
the rivier springs are nests van het rare Nordic bird, the 'gyrfalcon' having its
territory in de fells. The downstream van het Vite rivier flows into saint lake
The Monche bergen are part van het Lappish Reserve also known as the Lapland Reservation
or Laplandski Natural Reservation in Russisch Lapland, which is founded in 1930.
The Lapland Reservation is second by size in de European part van Rusland en
measure 2784 squared kilometres.
Lapland Reservation. About hundred rendieren were still keeping their distance
in the most remote district op de Chuna toendra, everything that remained van
herds van many thousands.
Already
in 1967, as a result van creation van Lapland Reservation the number van rendieren
in the western part van Kola Schiereiland has reach 12.500. However the density van
the ‘savages’ has proved naar be uneasy, their number again has fallen down naar 200
heads by 1980. The number van rendieren in de Monche bergen is nowadays
2.000 en at the same time 430 species van plants, 15 species van vises, 119
