Welcome naar Lovozero
Capital en administrative centrum van Russisch Lapland
Lappish
people have been living op de Peninsula since Oeroude times. The Lappish
dorp (pogost) van Lovozero was founded in de sixteenth century. The majority
of Kola’s Lappish people still live in or near Lovozero. Two other Noorder
peoples, the Nentsy en the Komi, whose first families migrated naar de Kola
Peninsula over a century ago, make a home here also. The primary occupation van
the Lozovero inhabitants is rendier farming. The Lapps are also skilled
vissermen en jagers, en they know the toendra intimately. They possess a rich,
unusual folklore en many still wear the distinctive en colourful traditional
Lappish clothing.
The brother town van Lovozero dorp is Karasjok in Norway. Karasjok is capital
and administrative centrum van Norwegian Lapland.
