Snowmobile safari to old Saami village Krasnoschelye.
|
Krasnoschelye, a Saami village where three northern peoples, the Kola Saami,
Nentsy and the Komi live. They possess a rich, unique folklore and many still
wear the distinctive and colourful traditional Lappish clothing.
The increasing isolation of several Saami groups over a long period of time,
combined with contact with the another reindeer-breeding nation from Komi,
during the last century, resulted in the formation of appreciable distinctions
in Saami costume, traditions and folklore. But the defining characteristic of
the Saami, now dispersed across four countries, has remained - they are the
"Reindeer People".
We offer you to visit the remote village Krasnoschelye to see their way of life
in nowadays. Krasnoschelye is only reachable by a snowmobile or a reindeer
sledge (or by a helicopter) in Winter and by a helicopter, only, in Summer.
Below we offer you two variants to reach the start point of the tour.

Snowmobile safari program description: |
Tour program 1:
Day 1: Arrival in Murmansk airport. Meeting by taxi with a name plate.
Drive to Murmansk and check-in at Meridian hotel.
Day 2: At 07.00 breakfast. At 07.30 a taxi comes to bring you to Lovozero
village to the start point of the tour. After a brief introduction and
instruction how to drive snowmobile we start to drive to the old Saami village
Krasnoschelye. Wilderness lunch on the way in a small wooden house. Upon arrival
in Krasnoschelye we have dinner in a national CHUM sitting around a fire. Sauna.
Overnight in a guest house.
Distance 140 km.
Day 3: Breakfast at 08.00. At 09.00 we have a hiking in the village
including a visit to a national saami centre to see a traditional work shop. At
13.00 we come back to the guest house to have lunch. After lunch we snowmobile
back to Lovozero village. Late arrival. Changing clothes. Leaving for Murmansk.
Check-in at Meridian hotel upon arrival.
Distance 140 km.
Day 4: Breakfast. Departure. Transfer to the airport.

Day 1: At 09.25 arrival in Olenegorsk railway station by the train # 16.
breakfast. Transfer to Lovozero village. After a brief introduction and
instruction how to drive snowmobile we start to drive to the old Saami village
Krasnoschelye. Wilderness lunch on the way in a small wooden house. Upon arrival
in Krasnoschelye we have dinner in a national CHUM sitting around a fire. Sauna.

Distance 140 km.
Day 2: Breakfast at 08.00. At 09.00 we have a hiking in the village

13.00 we come back to the guest house to have lunch. After lunch we snowmobile

station for the train # 16 leaving at 21.50.

Passport must be valid at least 3 months after date of return. A visa is required. We handle the tourist invitation. |
