Excursion to Lovozero |
During your visit we will make a day excursion to Lappish village Lovozero which was known already in the 16th century.
The majority of Kola’s Saami still live in or near this settlement. Two other northern nations, the Nentsy and the Komi, whose first families
migrated to the Kola Peninsula just a century ago, also have their home here. The primary occupation of the inhabitants of Lovozero is
reindeer farming, but they are also skilled fishermen and hunters, and they know the tundra intimately. They possess a rich, unique folklore
and many of them still wear the distinctive and colourful traditional Saami clothing. |
