Arctic kayaking tour Voronia River on Kola Peninsula (7 days)

This kayaking tour goes from the centre of the Kola Peninsula to the most northern point which we can reach by kayak; 30 km from the Arctic Ocean! The kayaking tour start not far from Saami village Lovozero on the shore of the Lovozero lake with it’s hundreds of islands and charming nature of northern forests. We paddle northwards to the quiet and beautiful river Voronia. The stretch of the Voronia River is about 100 km and closer to the Arctic Ocean the river will be wider and the landscape changes from Pine and Spruce forest into the northern Tundra where only Birches and birch bushes can survive. We will pass many islands in this beautiful land of small rivers and lakes where nobody lives.

During the tour our experienced guide will tell you all about the Russian Northern Tundra and takes care for your delicious meals, mostly cooked on campfires. The overnights will be in tents. You can meet all great variety of the northern nature.

Cities of the Kola Peninsula will offer you all the best excursions to introduce you the History and culture of our Northern region. Welcome!

Arctic kayaking tour description

Day 1. Saturday: Arrival in Monchegorsk city. Check-in at the hotel. Dinner on your own.

Day 2. Sunday: After breakfast transfer to Saami village Lovozero with our off-road bus. After visiting the National Saami Museum transfer to the start point of the kayaking tour on the shore of Lovozero Lake in the centre of the Kola Peninsula. Paddling the first stretch between the many islands to the beginning of the Voronia River. Lunch during the day and dinner on the shore of the River. Overnight in tents. Kayaking distance: 20 km.

Day 3 to 5. Monday to Wednesday: Every day after a good breakfast we paddle about 20 km with a snack stop on the water, a lunch break (with campfire) on one the many beautiful shores of the river and at the end of the paddling day we make a camp with campfire and have a good dinner. During the tour we can try our luck in fishing. Overnight in tents. Kayaking daily distance: 20 km.

Day 6. Thursday: Breakfast. Today we are going to finish our trip in the Northern part of Kola Peninsula. Our off-road bus is waiting on the shore close to a big dam. Transfer to Murmansk and check-in at a hotel. Dinner on your own. Kayaking distance: 20 km

Day 7. Friday: Breakfast. Departure.
OPTIONAL: Day excursion on day 7 in Murmansk; Worlds biggest city above Polar circle! Overnight in the hotel and at day 8 Saturday departure after breakfast.

Arctic kayaking tour details
Accommodation:	• 2 nights in double rooms in standard class hotel incl. breakfast • 4 nights in tents in wilderness
Level:	The participant must have experience in kayaking.

Price includes:	Accommodation, Days 2-6 – food three times per day, kayak renting, excursion to Saami museum, transfer from Monchegorsk city to the beginning of the kayaking tour and transfer from the end of the kayaking tour to Murmansk’s hotel, service from experienced guide during the kayaking tour and interpreter, visa invitation, rescue insurance what incl. helicopter evacuation for your safety.
Additional:	• The travel to Monchegorsk
Optional:	• Excursions in Murmansk on day 7 including 1 hotel overnight
Documents:	• Passport must be valid at least 6 months after date of return. A visa is required. We handle the tourist invitation.
Insurance:	• The participant must possess medical insurance that at very least covers the European part of the Russian Federation.
