Bicycle tour description: |
Day 1. Saturday: Arrival in lumberjack guesthouse "Yoki-Palki" located in a
small village close to Kirovsk city. Dinner, sauna. Overnight in two person
rooms.
Day 2. Sunday: After breakfast we start our bicycle route going via a
gravel road. We bicycle through dense forests, cross very small left villages
and pass many lakes and rivers with beautiful views. The lunch is on the route.
After 48 km we reach an old small village where our traditional Lappish Sot
house (Vezha) named "Loparskoe
Schastye" (Lapp’s Happiness) is located. We enjoy the banya (Russian sauna) and
taste the freshest fish and reindeer’s or elk’s meat fried on charcoals in Vehza.
Overnight in Vezha on reindeer fur.
Bicycling distance: 48 km unpaved road.
Day 3. Monday: After breakfast we start our bicycling route to a
forest lake through the picturesque forest landscape. Lunch on the lake shore.
Everybody can try luck in fishing. In the evening we come back. Dinner, sauna.
Overnight in Vezha. Bicycling distance: 30 km unpaved road.
Day 4. Tuesday: After breakfast we bicycle back to base "Yoki-Palki".
Lunch on the way. Dinner and sauna upon arrival. Overnight in the base.
Bicycling distance: 48 km unpaved road.
Day 5. Wednesday: Breakfast. Today our way is to a left area where
the rest of a Stalinist camp is located. The old forest road is going trough
picturesque landscape, through flower glades on places of ex-villages. We will
see ruins of old railway built by camp prisoners, rest of houses and fences of
barbed wire. Lunch on a way. Coming back in evening. Dinner, overnight.
Bicycling distance: 40 km unpaved road.
Day 6. Thursday: Breakfast. We are waited by the highest mountains of
Kola. These are Khibiny Mountains. After 35 km of asphalt we take a 25 km mountain road.
We will see impressionable rocks, crystal waterfall and mystic mountain lake –
we even can partly drive through its water! Lunch on the lake shore. Coming back
by our Army bus. Dinner, sauna, overnight.
Bicycling distance: 60 km (asphalt: 35 km and unpaved road: 25 km)
Possibility for go-setters to bicycle back! (Bicycling distance: asphalt: 70
km and unpaved road: 50 km).
Day 7. Friday: Breakfast. Departure.

The participant must have experience in long distances bicycling
in hilly and stony areas and must have a good condition. Knowledge about
repairing bicycle on the route is preferable.

interpreter, visa invitation, rescue insurance incl. helicopter

• Transfer cost from Salla to airport Kuusamo per line-bus: approx: EUR 17,-- per person, and for bicycle: EUR 5,--. This costs the participant has to pay directly to the driver.
• Booking accommodations, excursions, activities in Finland, Norway, Karelia, Saint-Petersburg and Moscow.
• Booking train / plane / bus tickets.
