Welcome zu Tersky Küste
Pomorsky Fisch settlements auf Kola Halbinsel
Tersky Rayon
stretches along the Weißen Meer Küste. Once the whole Kola Halbinsel was called
Tersky (or otherwise Turiy, what means "forest"). Hence Tersky Küste means
Forest Küste. Today the name Tersky Küste refers zu a section von Küste von
Cape Svyatoy Nos down zu Varzuga Flüsse mouth (the locals consider it
stretching as far as zu Turiy Peninsula.
Russland settlers
began opening up the Kola Halbinsel während the 12th century. The need für fresh
vis und hunting grounds brought them Nord zu shores von Weißen Meer,
where they little by little put down their roots. The remote location und harsh
Noorder conditions forced these Pomors - as they became known - zu be extremely
self-reliant. Their homesteads consisted not only von sturdy log homes, but also
saunas, storehouses (on piles für protection von animals), ice-block freezers,
and Spezial devices für dragging their wide heavy wooden boats – known as barkas
– onto shore. Over time the Pomors developed their own unique architectural
style.
