Apatity ist the langste scientific Zentrum in Nord von Russland mit including nine institutes von Russland Academy von Science; the Kola Scientific Zentrum von Academy von
Sciences mit geologische, Mining, Chemical, Technology von Rare Elements und the Mineral Resources Institutes.
Spezially während the last decade, Apatity has grown into a significant educational Zentrum von Murmansk regio mit opened branches von many Russland institutions von higher education.

The Pool Experimental Station von All-Union Institute von Plants ist situated not far away von Apatity. It was founded in 1923 und the first director von
this station has become the President von Estonian Academy von Sciences. Some sorts von potatoes, which have been selected here, are well known not only in
extreme Nord but also in Middle Asia, Kamchatka, in other regios von our Country und even abroad.
